Just after the birth of the second of the three, though, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/rabbibauer\">the rabbi<\/a> took us beyond that.\u00a0 With the birth of <i>their<\/i> children, our children have become ancestors, taking their places, as we had done, in the thousands of years of Jewish history.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve written before about the <a href=\"https:\/\/cynthiasamuels.com\/blog\/2014\/09\/08\/our-gigantic-family-microblogmondays\/\">special meaning of our \u201cBiblical\u201d lineage<\/a>\u00a0, especially since we can\u2019t trace our personal ones very far back, but I\u2019m saying something else here: look forward as well as back.\u00a0 There\u2019s something compelling about the concept of one\u2019s children becoming ancestors &#8211; something wonderful and profound.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two new grandsons have joined our first (born almost three years ago); one is 6 days old, the other just over two weeks.\u00a0 They are beautiful and delicious; watching our sons with them is breathtaking.
