{"id":1673,"date":"2007-05-29T09:06:02","date_gmt":"2007-05-29T09:06:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cynthiasamuels.com\/blog\/2007\/05\/29\/dc_restaurants_\/"},"modified":"2007-05-29T09:06:02","modified_gmt":"2007-05-29T09:06:02","slug":"dc_restaurants_","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cynthiasamuels.com\/blog\/2007\/05\/29\/dc_restaurants_\/","title":{"rendered":"DC RESTAURANTS: BEFORE AND AFTER"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cynthiasamuels.com\/blog\/photos\/uncategorized\/2007\/05\/29\/dc_photo.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Dc_photo\" height=\"129\" alt=\"Dc_photo\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cynthiasamuels.com\/blog\/dontgeltoosoon\/images\/2007\/05\/29\/dc_photo.jpg?resize=200%2C129\" width=\"200\" border=\"0\" style=\"FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 5px 5px 0px\" \/><\/a> So <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodmomiac.com\/\">Foodmomiac<\/a>, whose writing, recipes and self I hold in high regard, asks for five top restaurants in one&#8217;s hometown.&nbsp; I have to do 10 &#8212; 5 PRE-kosher life and 5 SINCE Kosher life.<\/p>\n<p>Since Kosher is easiest since there are only around 10 in DC anyway<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jcccafe.com\/\">JCC Cafe<\/a> &#8211; more nicely appointed than the others and nice, regular food. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pitaplusmd.com\/\">Pita Plus<\/a> &#8211; Shwarma and lots of other Middle Eastern meat stuff<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theshalomgroup.com\/\">Max&#8217;s <\/a>&#8211; Great matzo ball soup, schwarma, so-so fried chicken, good fries (according to my husband) etc.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.elisdc.com\/\">Eli&#8217;s<\/a> &#8211; a NY coffee shop type menu &#8211; salads with sliced steak, burgers (zillions of types) plus some real &quot;entrees.&quot;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ben-yehuda-pizza.com\/\">Ben Yehuda Pizza<\/a> &#8211; Great pizza w\/spinach and tomato and lots more.<\/p>\n<p>NOW &#8211; before we began our Kosher life &#8211; there were several we loved.&nbsp; Here are 5 of them:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/http\/\/vidaliadc.com\/bistro\/index.asp\">Bistro Bis<\/a> &#8211; cool, beautiful and delicious &#8212; American\/French cuisine &#8211; light.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/http\/\/www.neyla.com\/\">Neyla<\/a> &#8211; Spectacular Middle Eastern food in an elegant setting (expensive)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cafemilanodc.com\/\">Cafe Milano<\/a> &#8211; The Clintons eat here and so do a lot of other &quot;cool folks&quot; on the patio and inside&#8230; but celebrity haven or not it&#8217;s great Italian food (expensive)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bombayclubdc.com\/\">Bombay Club<\/a> &#8211; A fabulous Indian restaurant with a great outdoor area for dinner near the White House at dusk.&nbsp; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So Foodmomiac, whose writing, recipes and self I hold in high regard, asks for five top restaurants in one&#8217;s hometown.&nbsp; I have to do 10 &#8212; 5 PRE-kosher life and 5 SINCE Kosher life.
