It’s going to be interesting to see how all of this supports some of the more unusual Orthodox rules of physical intimacy. Stay tuned.

To Lucasta, Going off to the Wars
Richard Lovelace
(1618-1658)

Tell me not, Sweet, I am unkind,
That from the nunnery
Of thy chaste breast and quiet mind
To war and arms I fly.
True, a new mistress now I chase,
The first foe in the field;
And with a stronger faith embrace
A sword, a horse, a shield.

Yet this inconstancy is such
As thou too shalt adore;
I could not love thee, Dear, so much,
Loved I not Honour more.

*Kohelet Rabba 3:16

Sex and religion have always seemed at odds. Stories of sexual impulsivity have been with us forever – King David and Batsheva , Anna Karenina, , Atonement , Prince Charles, presidents, senators, preachers and ball players. So it’s not surprising that human beings struggle to maintain heavy sexual controls within the rules of faith. Any … Continue reading JEWISH SEX, HONOR AND HOLINESS

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[5,6,28,7,9,98
1729,1730,220,1728,1727,219,1732,978,1731,1733
post-1570","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-books","category-culture","category-film","category-life","category-politics","category-religion","tag-atonement","tag-david-and-batsheva","tag-jewish","tag-jewish-sex","tag-jewish-values","tag-judaism","tag-promiscuity","tag-sex","tag-sexual-impulse","tag-sexual-values
["GET
