Naturally, it&#8217;s also the largest number since the<br \/>\nconvention began, up 42% from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thrfeed.com\/2008\/08\/hillary-ratings.html\">Hillary Clinton&#8217;s<br \/>\nspeech<\/a> on Day 2.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0.7in 6pt;\"><em>Obama&#8217;s<br \/>\nspeech was seen by more U.S. viewers than the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony<br \/>\n(34.2 million). <\/em><\/p>\n<p>It was a remarkable speech in a spectacular setting.&nbsp; You either watched it or<br \/>\nyou didn&#8217;t &#8211; watch it here.&nbsp; It&#8217;s actually worth more than one viewing for<br \/>\nnot only the substance but also the environment and symbolism.&nbsp; Watch it &#8212;<br \/>\nit&#8217;s pretty amazing.<\/p>\n<p><object height=\"230\" width=\"284\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/cZ0gxF869NE&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1\" \/><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><\/object><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/08\/28\/us\/politics\/28text-obama.html?scp=1&amp;sq=transcript&amp;st=cse\">a<br \/>\ntranscript, too.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I<br \/>\nwaited until today to write this because I felt so much emotion last night that<br \/>\nI thought I should let it all sink in.&nbsp; &nbsp;I&#8217;ve seen so many acceptance<br \/>\nspeeches, and my sense of Obama&#8217;s role is so deep that I didn&#8217;t think I had<br \/>\nmuch new to offer.&nbsp; It doesn&#8217;t seem to be wearing off though &#8212; not that<br \/>\nI&#8217;m alone.&nbsp; MSNBC super-conservative and often inflamatory and somewhat<br \/>\ncruel <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2008\/04\/17\/joe-scarborough-walks-off_n_97330.html\">Joe<br \/>\nScarborough <\/a>was still rhapsodizing when I woke up.&nbsp; I think any aware<br \/>\nAmerican, anyone who&#8217;s lived through a substantial portion of our modern racial<br \/>\nhistory, anyone with any desire for a better, more just country &#8212; any of us &#8212;<br \/>\ncould not have watched what happened last night and remained<br \/>\ndispassionate.&nbsp; Tweets all night, and not just from those in the arena<br \/>\nkept saying &quot;Tears everywhere&quot;&nbsp; &quot;Tearing up&quot;<br \/>\n&quot;Didn&#8217;t think I&#8217;d cry but&#8230;&quot;&nbsp; I was fine until the family<br \/>\nwalked out to the center of the stadium holding hands.&nbsp; Then I just<br \/>\ndisolved.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond<br \/>\nthe moving historic moment, and the incredible tableau of two decent committed<br \/>\nfamilies who have made public service a life-time commitment, who are the kinds<br \/>\nof people who seem to manifest what Americans used to think of as &quot;real<br \/>\nAmerican&quot; character, the substance was also inspiring, at least for<br \/>\nme.&nbsp; You can read blogger comments on the wonderful <a href=\"http:\/\/dnc08.c-span.org\/\">CSPAN Hub<\/a> &#8212; assembled by a team that<br \/>\nincludes that very smart woman you keep seeing on CSPAN, <a href=\"http:\/\/lesliebradshaw.com\/?p=149\">Leslie Bradshaw<\/a>.&nbsp; This post of<br \/>\nhers will <a href=\"http:\/\/lesliebradshaw.com\/?p=149\">give you an idea<\/a> of<br \/>\nwhat it took to run the Hub operation &#8211; so valuable to so many bloggers.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: &quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-serif&quot;;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cynthiasamuels.com\/blog\/photos\/uncategorized\/2008\/08\/29\/palin_3.jpeg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"125\" border=\"0\" width=\"100\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cynthiasamuels.com\/blog\/dontgeltoosoon\/images\/2008\/08\/29\/palin_3.jpeg?resize=100%2C125\" title=\"Palin_3\" alt=\"Palin_3\" style=\"margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px; float: left;\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nFrom there, of<br \/>\ncourse, we moved to <a href=\"http:\/\/gov.state.ak.us\/bio.php\">Sarah Palin<\/a>.
